Ratan Tata, the chairman emeritus of Tata Sons, one of India’s largest conglomerates, passed away late at the age of 86. A veteran industrialist and a philanthropist, Tata’s demise has left the nation in mourning. But his influence extended far beyond the boardroom. With more than 13 million followers on X (formerly Twitter) and more than 10 million on Instagram, Ratan Tata was also a social media sensation, rivaling top influencers.
Tata made his Instagram debut in October 2019 with a post captained “I don’t know about breaking the internet, but I am so excited to join all of you on Instagram! After a long absence from public life, I look forward to exchanging stories and creating something special with such a diverse community!”. His Instagram bio playfully reads “I made it to the ‘Gram!”.
