NOIDA: Two men were arrested on Wednesday after cops recovered the body of a property dealer from a burnt Fortuner in Greater Noida‘s Nagla Nainsukh village.
Additional DCP Ashok Kumar said Sanjay Yadav of Ghaziabad’s Nehru Nagar was identified after police managed to decipher the registration number of the SUV within hours after it was found burning near ITI College.
Yadav’s family claimed the 41-year-old had left home around Tuesday noon with two friends. They filed a missing person complaint at a local police station as he did not get back home that night and his phone went switched off.
Delhi resident Vishal Rajput and Jeet Chaudhary of Rajasthan were arrested after Yadav’s family pointed the needle of suspicion towards the two men who were with the victim on Tuesday. The family claimed Yadav was killed as the accused wanted to steal the jewellery he was wearing.
After the arrest, cops recovered a bracelet, two rings, one gold chain, Rs 6250, two mobiles, and a suspected murder weapon – a belt – from the suspects.
Dadri police have filed the FIR under BNS sections 103(1) (murder), 309(6) (robbery), 238 (causing disappearance of evidence), and 3(5) (criminal act carried out by multiple persons in furtherance of a common intention) and 317(2) (stolen property).
“Rajput and Chaudhary told interrogators that they befriended Yadav on finding that he would usually carry a lot of cash and wear jewellery. Their plan was to rob him. On Oct 22, Yadav brought some beer, and the three men drank together in the suspects’ room. They then strangled him with the belt, put his body in a car and drove it to Dadri where they set it on fire,” Kumar said.
Police suspect Yadav was physically assaulted by the two men before the murder as his body bore internal injuries.
