JioFiber and JioAirFiber customers can now access JioTV+ on a wider range of smart TVs without needing an extra Set-Top Box (STB). By simply downloading the JioTV+ app, users can access their favourite content on multiple TVs in their homes with a single Jio connection. Previously, accessing JioTV+ on multiple TVs required separate STBs for each. This expansion provides more flexibility and convenience for JioFiber and JioAirFiber users who want to enjoy their subscriptions on multiple screens.Its important to note that both JioFiber and JioAirFiber services already include IPTV STBs as part of their standard offerings.
However, its important to note that Jio made its JioTV+ app available for free download on all major smart TV platforms, even without a JioAirFiber or JioFiber connection in Q2. Now, JioFiber and JioAirFiber customers will be able to take advantage of the “2-in-1” offer which will allow them to connect multiple TVs to a single internet connection and access JioTV+’s content library. This includes over 800 digital TV channels and more than 13 OTT apps, all accessible through one interface.
According to a report by the Economic Times, experts have predicted that expanding JioTV+ to a wider range of smart TVs will increase its reach significantly. By eliminating the need for additional set-top boxes, JioTV+ will become more accessible and convenient for users. This increased accessibility is expected to attract a larger user base and solidify JioTV+’s position in the OTT market.
What the company said about JioTV+ at its earnings call
During the the company’s Q2 earnings call, Kiran Thomas, President, Reliance Jio Infocomm, said: “When it comes to the in-home experience itself, now we have a great product called Jio TV+, which was a unified experience to discover all of the OTT services that are available, especially on the Jio STB, so that from a single interface, users can discover and consume all their favourite shows and movies and so on, without having to search and jump across multiple apps and so on.
So, this particular service, which was till now on the Jio STB and a very well-loved offering, we have now also enabled that to be available on other smart TV platforms. So, what that means is that if you are a JioFiber or Jio AirFiber customer, then the same Jio TV+ application that is available on the STB is now also available for additional televisions that you may have in your home without requiring an additional STB or an additional connection. So, it just becomes an additional app that you can download on your smart TV without having to take additional efforts to enable that to happen.”
