NEW DELHI: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday referred to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as “poison” and labeled them “politically the most dangerous” entities in India.
“If there is anything politically most dangerous in India, it is the BJP and RSS. They are like poison. If a snake bites, the person dies. Such a poisonous snake should be killed,” Kharge said while speaking at a rally in Sangli, Maharashtra.
BJP reacted sharply to Kharge’s comments, alleging that the Congress has ‘divided the country’ in the name of ‘religion’. “These (Congress) are people full of hate. First, they divided the country on the name of religion; now they again want to divide the country based on caste, but the people of the country will answer this,” Union minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said while talking to news agency ANI.
Kharge in his rally also criticized Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath for continuing his election rallies in Maharashtra despite a recent fire at a medical college in Jhansi that claimed the lives of 10 newborns. “No idea what happened to him. Despite the tragedy, his rallies in Maharashtra didn’t stop,” he added.
Taking aim at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Kharge accused him of prioritizing foreign trips over addressing domestic issues, particularly the violence in Manipur. “Manipur is burning, people are dying, women are being raped, and the Prime Minister has not visited. Instead, he is on foreign tours. First, take care of the country. You can travel abroad later,” the Congress president said.
Meanwhile, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also took aim at the BJP on Sunday while holding a roadshow in Nagpur, where RSS headquarters are located.

While the Congress leader was holding a roadshow, a group of BJP supporters started waving party flags from a building. To which Priyanka Gandhi responded, saying, “Friends in the BJP, wish you all the best for the election. But it is the Maha Vikas Aghadi that will win.”
