NEW DELHI: The selection of fast bowler Mayank Yadav for the T20I series against Bangladesh was the primary focus when the Indian cricket team was picked for the three-match rubber.
Mayank made a significant impact on everyone during IPL 2024 by consistently bowling at speeds above 150kmph while maintaining exceptional accuracy in his lines and lengths.
In one of his deliveries, he even reached a speed of 156.7 kmph. He was awarded the Player-of-the-Match in his first two appearances for Lucknow Super Giants, but an abdominal strain quickly forced him to the sidelines. Mayank then spent time at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru to recover and regain match fitness by bowling eight to ten overs daily.
During his debut against Bangladesh in Gwalior, he bowled a maiden over and claimed his first international wicket in Mahmudullah.

The second T20I between India and Bangladesh at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Wednesday marked the grand homecoming of Mayank, a product of the iconic Sonnet Club.

In the first T20I, he exceeded 149 kmph, while in the second T20I, he clocked 146-147 on a few occasions.
However, he has yet to reach 150kmph in international cricket.
After the tourists lost the second T20I and the series, former Bangladesh cricketer Tamim Iqbal made a comment.
“Mayank Yadav has not touched 150 in this series,” Tamim said during commentary.

“Neither has Bangladesh,” replied Murali Kartik, who was his fellow commentator.
As the BGT series approaches, the debate surrounding India’s pace setup has been brewing among fans.
