'No pulse, no cardiac activity': What Lilavati Hospital doctors said after Baba Siddique’s death

NEW DELHI: NCP leader Baba Siddique was fatally shot on Saturday evening in Mumbai. He sustained two gunshot wounds to his chest and was taken to Lilavati Hospital for emergency treatment.
Dr Niraj Uttamani, chief operating officer of Lilavati Hospital & Research Centre in Mumbai, released a statement regarding the death of Baba Siddiqui.
According to Dr Uttamani, “Baba Siddiqui was brought to Lilavati Hospital & Research Centre, Emergency Medical Services at 9.30pm on Saturday in an unresponsive condition with no pulse, no blood pressure recording, no cardiac activity, with an history of gun shot wounds to the chest.He had lost a lot of blood and resuscitation as per standard protocols was initiated immediately.”
He was then shifted to ICU where the medical team, consisting of Dr Nitin Gokhale, Dr Jalil Parkar, Dr Jigeeshu Divatia, Dr Chinmay Godbole, Dr Kavita, Dr Nitin Dange, Dr Girishkumar Soni, and Dr Narendra Nikam, continued their efforts to revive him. However, despite their best attempts, they were unable to save Mr. Siddiqui’s life. “Despite all resuscitative efforts we were unable to revive him and was declared dead at 11.27 pm on Saturday,” stated Dr Uttamani.
The shooting took place around 9.30 pm in Nirmal Nagar. Siddique, a three-time MLA from Bandra West, had joined Ajit Pawar’s faction of the NCP after resigning from Congress earlier this year.
Mumbai police have arrested two suspects in connection to the incident. Additional CP Paramjit Singh Dahiya stated, “The incident occurred around 9.30 pm in Nirmal Nagar. Baba Siddique was taken to Lilavati Hospital after being shot. Two suspects have been arrested, and the Mumbai Crime Branch is investigating the case.”
Police also recovered a 9.9mm pistol used in the crime.
