MUMBAI: Anticipating she will join Ajit Pawar-led NCP, MPCC president Nana Patole on the instructions of AICC general secretary Ramesh Chennithala Saturday expelled Amravati MLA Sulbha Khodke from the party for six years for anti-party activities. Incidentally, Khodke will join NCP Sunday in the presence of Ajit Pawar. She is likely to be NCP nominee from Amravati for the assembly elections.Khodke was first elected to the legislative assembly from Badnera in 2009 as a NCP nominee, but in 2009 and 2014, she was defeated. In 2019, as a Congress nominee, she won from Amravati.
Khodke is the third Congress legislator to be expelled for anti-party activities. On Aug 30, Patole expelled Nanded MLA Jitesh Antapurkar and Bandra MLA Zishan Siddique.
Ever since Ajit joined hands with Eknath Shinde, Khodke has reportedly been meeting NCP brass for funds for work in her constituency. It was alleged in the recent legislative council and Rajya Sabha elections, she cross voted against the Congress nominee.
