NEW DELHI: An unbelievable second innings batting collapse resulted in a humiliating innings defeat for Pakistan against in Multan on Friday.
After Harry Brook and Joe Root turned the match on its head on the penultimate day with triple and double tons respectively, Pakistan had a shock batting meltdown as they lost the match by an innings and 47 runs in the morning session on the final day.
The win was England’s fourth consecutive Test triumph on Pakistan soil, after a 3-0 whitewash two years ago and former cricketer Basit Ali launched a scathing attack on the team, support staff and the cricket board for their failure across departments.
From lambasting the team’s embarrassing surrender to shedding light on team management and board’s lies and favouritism, Basit minced no words while highlighting Pakistan cricket‘s downfall.
“These foreign coaches, management are making a fool of us. Back-biting is being openly done in this current system. This person did this, this person did that. No one comes here on the basis of merit. There is too much of favouritism and the hurtful thing is the spread of lies. Speak lies and get your work done,” Basit said

“Sharmnaak shikast (embarrassing defeat). Pakistan Cricket board have closed their eyes. Let it happen, whatever is happening. Bas Champions Trophy ho jaye Pakistan me. First, uplift and get your cricket better,” he added.
The loss in Multan continues a painful losing stretch for Pakistan and will compound the pressure on captain Shan Masood. His tenure has begun with six consecutive defeats, including three in Australia and two at home at the hands of Bangladesh.
The second Test will be held at the same venue and will commence from October 15.
